I've always thought it is much better to be alone than in a miserable relationship. Took me a while to realize that. Thanks for your input!

I miss that feeling :(

I live about 3 hours away from my girlfriend, so we don't see each other every day, but when ever I come home we spend a lot of time together. We always include a romantic low-light + favorite music hook up session.

But I remember one time when I came home and we were doing that and I stopped in the middle of it, and I said "I feel too... awake. It feels weird." She didn't understand what I meant and we just continued.

That feeling continued and never went away. It occurred to me what had changed. Its not that I felt "awake" as much as it was that I felt "sober". Because our relationship did not follow any traditional trajectory (we first hooked up three days before I left for college, and thus the relationship never actually had a stable footing) it just so happened that there were some shifts in chemicals between the first "awake" hookup and the last one before it.

Don't get me wrong, I still love her. But there is no longer such a strong "high" when I share a romantic moment with her. Yes, I enjoy it and I wouldn't give it up for the world. But I really wish I could relive the emotions which I felt right at the beginning of our relationship. Every moment felt blurry, yet oh so perfect, as if if in a dream.

I miss that feeling :(

Thanks Maneo for sharing that! I think we probably can relive those wonderful emotions we had in the beginning by taking a moment or two to reflect back. Of course we can never go back to what once was but we can find new feelings and emotions with what we currently have.
